The 8th World Construction Symposium 2019, under the theme, “Towards a Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Built Environment” was held from 08th-09th November at Galadari Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka. The symposium was jointly organized by the Building Economics Management and Research Unit (BEMRU) of the Department of Building Economics, �������߿� of Moratuwa and the Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB).

The UoM team won the 1st runner up award in the signal processing cup (SP Cup) 2020 competition attached to the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing (ICASSP), virtually held in Barcelona, Spain, from May 4 to 8, 2020. The winning team comprised of six undergrads of the Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering (ENTC), and four undergrads of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Dr. Kriengsak Panuwatwanich, Associate Professor and Head of the School of Civil Engineering Technology, Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thammasat �������߿�, Thailand, and Mr. Hideki Shimazu and Ms. Kultira Tangtaswa, special representatives from ASEAN �������߿� Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (AUN/SEED-Net) visited the �������߿� of Moratuwa (UoM) on 17th January 2020. The �������߿� of Moratuwa has signed a MOU with SIIT-Thammasat �������߿� and this visit was a follow-up for further collaborations.

A team of delegates from the East China �������߿� of Science and Technology, China visited the �������߿� of Moratuwa on 9th January 2020 to discuss possible collaborations. The team consisted of Prof. Ms. Luan Weiling, Vice Dean of Graduate School, Prof. Liu Dianhua, Vice Dean of School of Chemical Engineering, Prof. Zhang Lehua, Professor, Department Head, School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Prof. Xu Yisheng, Professor, School of Chemical Engineering, Mr.

The Faculty of Business partnered with LAKARCADE (Pvt) Ltd, one of the biggest novelty Gift & Souvenir shopping malls in Asia located in the heart of Colombo to provide gainful engagements to BPM undergraduates in the areas of business process analysis and improvements at their premises.

�������߿� of Moratuwa is among the best universities in Sri Lanka and is a popular choice for higher education. Prof. M. Thilakasiri, Senior Management Consultant and former Director - Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA) visited the �������߿� of Moratuwa (UoM) on 16th December 2019 with Faculty Deans and administrative officers of following three Chinese Universities, to conduct an information session for UoM students on educational opportunities available at China.
